Parks and Recreation

Our city park is located behind the Locust Elementary School. It is accessible from 3 directions. First is Park Drive which is the road on the West side of the school (Toward CVS). The next is the driveway east of the Locust School (toward Albemarle) and the last is off of Hwy 200 North just north of the Locust Restaurant. That road is named Lions Club Drive and will take you to plenty of parking for the 4 lighted baseball/soft ball fields, 2 lighted soccer fields, lighted multipurpose field, lighted tennis courts and over a mile of walking trails.

We encourage you to visit and learn of the next phase of park work. Jeff Shelton, Charlotte Police Officer and Locust Resident, who gave his life in the line of duty April 1, 2007 is being honored by the ACE and TJ Show from FM 95.1 radio in Charlotte. Many hours of volunteer work and dollars are being spent now to make this a state of the art park for children. It will include a dog park, amphitheater, butterfly park, large play set, walking trails, basketball court, flowing creek area, and hopefully some other type of water activity. I encourage you and your family to visit these parks, enjoy and if so led; volunteer to help us continue to offer these recreation facilities.
