The City of Locust operates under an annual balanced budget ordinance. The annual budget, developed after careful consideration, levies taxes and allocates resources in a manner that effectively reflects the priorities of the Locust City Council.
Property taxes are assessed at a rate which is applied to every $100 of assessed property value. This value may be different to the value you purchased the property from.
Tax rate for every $100 of assessed property value | ||
City of Locust | Stanly County | Cabarrus County |
$0.36 | $0.61 | $0.60 |
*Additional fire district tax applies to all properties depending on the property’s location*
To calculate your tax bill, take the assessed value of your property, divide by 100, and multiply by the corresponding tax rate(s) above to get the calculated result.
Should you believe the assessed value of your property is incorrect (e.g. valued too high, or valued highly even after an incident which damaged the property) you may request a reassessment of your property value. You may also wish to seek an independent and accredited property valuer to make this assessment. A home appraisal for sale purposes should not affect the tax rate for the property.
