Beautification is defined as the process of making something appealing to the senses.
That said, at the City of Locust, it’s our goal to enhance, restore, and beautify our community by demonstrating high standards of cleanliness, maintenance and attractiveness. All while promoting community pride and involvement through beautification processes and projects such as:
Landscape Maintenance: (Government Center- Officer Jeff Shelton Memorial Park- Locust Athletic Complex- Main St/The Square- all public street right-of-way)
Trash Cleanup: (Town Center- Main St.- all public street right-of-way)
Other Programs: (pedestrian lights, custom street blade signs, holiday decorations, all public street scape/right-of-way improvements)
City of Locust Welcome Sign (NC 24/27E) Project-
This project involved building a welcome sign at the western entrance of the City of Locust on NC 24/27 near Pine Bluff Rd. The sign will be constructed of painted aluminum and aluminum columns wrapped in faux stone. It will be 48"(T)x 222"(L)x 48"(W) and will be located in the NCDOT right of way. In addition, landscaping will be added to enhance the beauty of the sign site and will be illuminated during the peak hours by energy efficient solar power. The City will operate and maintain the sign/site for the life of the sign.
The mission of the City Beautification Division is to make the City of Locust as appealing to the senses as possible. This project certainly accomplishes that. The new sign will be our "hand shake" greeting to ALL who live and visit our great City.
